Stat attack: Bristol Bears 10-12 Exeter Chiefs

Tackling numbers, versatile Vui and Tom topping the charts - check out the pick of the numbers from Saturday's Gallagher Premiership clash.

Noble Steve

In a rain-soaked West Country battle, Bristol Bears made a total of 192 tackles, missing just 14.

The game's top-five tacklers were all Bristol players, with Steven Luatua topping the pile with 21 tackles.

Dan Thomas made 20 tackles and John Hawkins made 18 tackles (100%).

Luke warm

After Charles Piutau was ruled out with injury during the week, Luke Daniels made the switch from wing to full-back - where he started the first game of the season against Bath in Piutau's absence.

The former Ealing man impressed throughout in difficult conditions at Ashton Gate, making a game-high 73 metres from 10 carries.

A blistering start to the season from Daniels was followed by an injury that saw him miss the majority of the first-half of the season. But back in action, Daniels looked dangerous against a strong Chiefs outfit.

Threatening.

Costly error count

Pat Lam rued his side's errors in Saturday's narrow defeat, with Bristol Bears conceding 18 turnovers in 80 minutes.

It proved costly for the hosts, as Exeter took advantage of the high number of errors to turn possession and territory into points.

“Everyone makes mistakes, but they are costly when you play a side like Exeter," said Lam afterwards.
