Stat attack: Bristol Bears 22-25 Exeter Chiefs

Fine margins, Joyce's Ashton Gate record and Holmes thrives at lineout. Check out the best of the match stats from Tuesday's Gallagher Premiership defeat to Exeter Chiefs at Ashton Gate.

Fine margins

Five out of the last six meetings between Bristol and Exeter have now been decided by five points or fewer.

After the Bears left it late to win at Sandy Park in November, the Chiefs repaid the favour on Tuesday night, leaving the aggregate score for the season at 42-42.

Best of three?

Joyce the Red brings up fifty

A fitting landmark for diehard Bristol City fan, Joe Joyce who on Tuesday night became the first rugby player to make 50 appearances at Ashton Gate

Not the result he would've been hoping for, but an impressive feat for the King of Southmead.

Holmes' lineout steals

One area of Bears' dominance on Tuesday night was at the lineout, stealing or disrupting five of the Chiefs' throws to get themselves on the front foot.

At the heart of the lineout success was Ed Holmes, who claimed four steals - three in a row at one point - to put the visitors' set-piece under pressure.
