Study With Community Foundation In 2017/18

Bristol Rugby Community Foundation’s Level Two Diploma course is a one-year programme suitable for post-16 boys and girls of all academic and playing abilities, who are passionate about furthering their experience within rugby coaching.

Based inside Ashton Gate Stadium, students will have access to purpose-built classrooms and facilities, creating an inspiring learning environment.

Alongside the academic requirements of the course, which cover a diverse range of units, students will participate in more than eight hours of coaching work experience sessions per week across a range of community programmes.

Community Foundation is extremely committed to enhancing students’ employability skills, which is why students who enrol on to this course have access to valuable work experience in community or academy projects. This opportunity allows students to enhance their delivery and CV accordingly, which can assist them in getting a head start in their career path.

Course Summary 

Academic Qualification

Diploma Level 2 in Sports Studies

Content

  • 12 hours of education per week
  • Over eight hours of coaching practical per week
  • Six units ranging from anatomy and physiology to event management
  • Primarily assessed through weekly coursework
  • Coach Education sessions led by RFU Educators
  • Valuable work experience in community or academy projects

Costs

This course is FREE to enrol on to for all students. There is however, a compulsory £150 (approx.) cost for Bristol Rugby kit.

Start Date

September 2017

Prerequisites to Apply

  • A minimum of four GCSEs in any subject
  • Have a keen interest in rugby and coaching

Exit Routes

  • Entry onto a Level 3 course
  • Job opportunities at Bristol Rugby Community Foundation or Bristol Sport Foundation
  • Job opportunities within the leisure industry
  • Advanced Apprenticeship
