Talented trio to join Integrated Academy

Talented young trio George Kloska, Blake Boyland and Jack Bates will join the club’s Integrated Academy ahead of the 2019/20 season.

The SGS Filton College pupils have featured for Bristol Bears ‘A’ in the Gallagher Premiership Shield this season, with Bates and Boyland also representing England U18 in the past 12 months.

The Bristolian trio have been part of the Academy system since U13, with Bates and Boyland studying at Colstons and Kloska studying at St Bede's, before joining SGS Filton's rugby programme.

Kloska made his senior debut against Leinster ‘A’ in the 2017/18 British and Irish Cup and joined the squad for pre-season during the summer.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for all three of these players and we’re delighted they are joining the Integrated Academy,” said Academy manager Mike Hall.

“They have all had a taste of the senior setup, whether in the British and Irish Cup or the Premiership Shield, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in a professional environment."

“They have all had a taste of the senior setup, whether in the British and Irish Cup or the Premiership Shield, and we look forward to seeing them thrive in a professional environment.

“Jack (Bates) is a powerful and athletic wing, while Blake (Boyland) is a pacy and exciting scrum-half. Both have spent time in the international age group environment, at U17 and U18 level.

“Having made the switch from back-row to hooker, George (Kloska) is a physical and abrasive ball carrier who has worked hard on his set-piece.

“It’s a big step to come into the professional environment, so it is important for them to continue working hard and we look forward to watching their development.”
