Check out they key talking points from this week's media session, as Director of Rugby, Pat Lam and hooker Bryan Byrne previewed the Heineken Champions Cup Round of 16 clash with Bordeaux-Begles (3pm KO, live on BT Sport 2 HD).
Pat Lam on a Bordeaux rematch: “We know the challenge we face away – it’s always tough away in France, but certainly at Bordeaux. We know the type of team that they are and how dangerous they are – although we beat them in the Challenge Cup last season, we went to extra time for that, and they know what we bring as well. It’s Champions Cup football.”
Bryan Byrne on Champions Cup weeks: "The minute we stepped into the High Performance Centre on Tuesday, you could feel the buzz around the place. European weeks are special and the Heineken Cup is a competition that everyone wants to win. When it comes to European weeks, the challenge in itself is bigger and we're playing teams we wouldn't usually play, so there's a big focus for Sunday.
"It's going to be a big battle up front. They have a big pack and a big strong scrum, so we need to nullify their scrum and their dangerous lineout options as well. The set-piece will be huge, but if we defend to the best of our ability, it should put us in a good place."
Pat Lam on Six Nations window: “I’m very pleased with what the boys have done. The Six Nations window was a goal for the guys to try and get as many points as possible, to get 32 points certainly before last weekend – and then to end up with the highest (points tally) of all the teams was really great credit to everybody and the work they put in.”
