Spectrum Project programme manager, Kris Tavender says he is hugely excited ahead of tomorrow’s trip to the House of Commons for the Premiership Rugby Parliamentary Community Awards.
Spectrum is shortlisted for the Premiership Rugby BREAKTHRU Award, which applauds programmes and activities that champion social change within both communities and individuals.
The project helps people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities throughout Greater Bristol take part in sport, leisure and personal development within school settings and regular curriculum time.
Kris Tavender said: "It is so exciting to be heading to London tomorrow and for the Spectrum Project to be recognised by Premiership Rugby.
"It really is a true testament to all of the hard work that has gone on from the whole Foundation team and Spectrum's committed volunteers - and a clear reflection of the truly special nature of the kids and young people involved and their achievements. Special Educational Needs and Disabilities truly are making Bristol proud.
“It would be an amazing honour to win the award, but we know we are up against two other fantastic programmes – but we have out fingers firmly crossed.”
Bristol Rugby Community Foundation is up for three awards at the prestigious ceremony held in London, with the Eagle Project shortlisted in the PLAY category and volunteer Nino Genua up for the Volunteer of the Year gong.
