Team news: Bristol Bears 'A' vs Gloucester United

Toby Fricker will make his first outing for the club, when Bristol Bears ‘A’ face Gloucester United in the Premiership Shield on Monday (7.45pm KO).

  • Winger Toby Fricker set for club debut
  • Sam Jeffries among replacements after long term injury
  • Heenan and Bedlow listed as co-captains
  • Jack Lam selected in the back row versus Gloucester

The winger – who signed from Ebbw Vale in March – starts on the wing for the Clifton RFC clash.

Bears have won three and lost four of their games in the southern section of the competition so far, including a 30-15 win over the Cherry and Whites back in December.

Academy manager Mike Hall said: “With such an important block of fixtures to come, the Premiership Shield gives us a great opportunity to ensure guys are getting minutes under their belts.

“We’ve selected a strong side with a blend of young players and experienced internationals and we’re looking forward to seeing how they perform against a talented Gloucester outfit.”

Sam Jeffries returns from a long-term back injury to be included among the replacements, while George Kloska – who signed professional Academy terms for the 2019/20 campaign – is also among the 23-man squad.
