Team news: DMP Durham Shark vs Bristol Bears Women

Kim Oliver makes two changes to the starting XV as Bears Women aim to finish the calendar year on a high in the North East tomorrow (1:30pm KO).

  • Starting berth for Alisha Butchers
  • Lucy Burgess returns
  • Jenny Herring could make debut

Bristol Bears Women will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend as the travel to the Northern Echo Arena to take on DMP Durham Sharks in round nine of Allianz Premier 15s action.

Siwan Lillicrap drops out of the squad through injury, meaning there is a reshuffle in the back row of the pack with Alisha Butchers starting on the blindside and Rownita Marston shifting to number eight.

Lucy Burgess returns to the starting XV in place of Rhi Parker at scrum half along with three changes amongst the Impact Players.

University of Bristol student Jenny Herring could make her Bristol Bears Women bow if introduced tomorrow afternoon. Alice Lockwood and Lily Stoeger also come into the matchday 23.

Head Coach Kim Oliver said: “We’ve got to get a bit of enjoyment back into the way we play, because if we’re not enjoying it then we’re not fully bought in to what we’re trying to achieve.

“We’re heading up to the game the night before so we’re best prepared for the game. The management team have done a great job in making sure we’ve got everything we need, it’s when we wake up on the morning of the game, we have to make sure we’re in the right mindset.

“We’ve got to get back to doing what we’re capable of and enjoying it because it’s also the last game of the year before we head off on a break and we want to go into that in a positive place.”
