Bristolian Joe Joyce is named skipper in the Premiership for the first time in his 135th appearance for the club, as Bears kick off 2022 at Sandy Park on New Year’s Day (4.30pm KO).
Joyce is one of three changes to the side that suffered defeat to Leicester Tigers, as Dan Thomas and Nathan Hughes are named in the back row, with skipper Steven Luatua (calf) unavailable.
Australian international Luke Morahan is named in the backline, while John Afoa comes into the 23-man squad and is listed among the replacements.
