Team news: Gloucester-Hartpury vs Bristol Bears Women (AC R1)

Dave Ward has named his Bears Women side that will kick-off their Allianz Cup campaign with a West Country derby against Gloucester-Hartpury on Saturday (4:45pm).

  • 15 changes from last league outing

Ward has named a completely changed starting XV to the side that last ran out in the league with 13 players making their first start of the 2021/22 campaign.

China Kill has impressed as an impact player through the first five rounds of the AP15s and will start at loosehead with Holly Phillips and Sophie Phillips completing the front row.

Bears will have experience in the engine room in Hollie Cunningham, who is partnered with Delaney Burns.

Jenny Herring and Daisie Mayes line up on either flank of the scrum with England Under-20 talent Gabriella Nigrelli making her first appearance in Bears colours at the Alpas Arena.

Lucy Burgess captains the side at scrum-half, with Lucie Skuse lining up at fly-half.

Ella Lovibond and Lily Stoeger-Goddard mark their return from injury to start at inside centre and wing respectively, whilst Jo Smith and Anwen Owen also make their 21/22 season bow.

England Under-20 international Jenny Hesketh will marshal the backfield at full-back.

Alice Lockwood, Megan Barwick, Rhi Parker, Katie Derrick and Ellie Lewis are also in line to make their first appearances of the season if introduced and the powerful trio of Simi Pam, Ellie Mulhearn and Rownita Marston make up the remainder of the matchday 23.
