Team news: Loughborough Lightning vs Bristol Bears Women

Amber Reed is due to make her first appearance in a Bears shirt for 15 months as Kim Oliver makes three changes to her side to take on Loughborough Lightning tomorrow afternoon (2pm).

  • Amber Reed starts for the Bears
  • Siwan Lillicrap comes in to the engine room
  • Daisie Mayes returns to the blindside

Bristol Bears Women have been boosted by the return of co-captain Reed, who has been named at inside centre for the final game of 2019.

Siwan Lillicrap also returns to the engine room to bolster the pack after returning from international duty with Wales, where she captained her country four times throughout the autumn series.

Daisie Mayes’ impressive start to the season continues as she returns to the back row at blindside flanker in place of Ebony Jefferies, who will be looking to make an impact when introduced from the replacements.

Word from the camp: Kim Oliver

“We put in a really dominant performance against Loughborough last time round, so we have got to take confidence from that performance but we know this weekend is a different ball game and it’s going to be a big challenge.

“Every team is beatable and we have to believe that going into tomorrow’s game, if we can get in right mindset then we will put ourselves in a good position to get something from the game.”
