Team news: Scarlets vs Bristol Bears

Bristol Bears kick off the pre-season campaign with a visit to Scarlets on Saturday (2.30pm KO).

Head coach Pat Lam takes a 38-man squad – including a host of new recruits - to Carmarthen Park for the friendly clash.

Fifteen players who were signed over the summer could make their first outings for the club as preparations gather pace ahead of the Gallagher Premiership campaign.

“We’ve worked incredibly hard over a long summer and there’s been a lot of positive work done, on and off the field. Following a behind-closed-doors training hit out with Hartpury last weekend, this is a first proper game for many of the squad,” said Lam.

“We’re taking a large squad over because we want to see how the boys are connecting and give as many guys an opportunity to play and prove themselves ahead of selection for the opening Premiership game.”
