'That was absolutely massive' - Lam

Pat Lam declared it ‘job done’ as the Bears extended their unbeaten run in the Gallagher Premiership to eight games with a bonus-point win at Kingston Park.

Tries in either half from Max Malins led the way for the table-toppers, with Jake Heenan, Luke Morahan and Ben Earl also touching down – and the Director of Rugby was pleased to see his side shake off a slow start to earn all five points in the North East.

'Job done'

"We blew an opportunity at the beginning and wanted to start well. It's not easy to come up here and we had an early opportunity to score but didn't take it.

“We then gave away a lot of penalties, but to come up here and get five points in the context of this season is absolutely massive.

"The first 20 minutes wasn't what we are about, and we lost a little bit of focus. After that, we showed what can do when we have our systems in place and understand the patterns that we have.

"The real focus for this group was to get us back on track after losing in the Champions Cup, and we did that, so it’s job done.”
