Thiede shows support for flu vaccination campaign

North Somerset Community Hospital staff were delighted to be visited by Bristol Bears prop, Lewis Thiede this week.

Thiede visited the hospital’s Minor Injury Unit in support of NSCP’s rugby-themed staff flu vaccination campaign.

NSCP staff were invited to take a ‘seFLUie’ selfie with Lewis after their flu jab and had a chance to speak to him about his life as a Premiership Rugby player.

Greg Garrett, Resilience Lead, at NSCP said: “Regular staff flu vaccination clinics have been taking place at NSCP bases in North Somerset since September and are running until the end of December.

“As our staff flu vaccinations coincide with the Rugby World Cup, the NSCP Seasonal Flu Planning Group thought it would be a fantastic idea to have a rugby theme for this year’s campaign.

“We were delighted to be joined by Lewis on Wednesday; his visit has really helped us raise awareness of our campaign amongst staff. He has helped highlight the importance of the flu vaccination and hopefully this will encourage any staff who haven’t had their flu jab yet to drop-in to a clinic.”

Last year NSCP achieved an 83% vaccination rate amongst frontline healthcare workers beating all previous efforts and helping to protect vulnerable patients from the virus.
