Traditional Combination fixture set to return in 2020

As part of our ongoing commitment to our local clubs, Bristol Bears are delighted to announce the return of the annual Bristol vs Combination XV game from 2020.

The fixture, which historically saw a Bristol XV face the Combination’s best players, has provisionally been scheduled for Wednesday, April 29th (time and location to follow).

A regular event on the local rugby calendar, the clash was a prestigious game to play in for those selected from the Combination with some standout players going on to represent Bristol.

Director of Rugby Pat Lam said: “The Combination is the lifeblood of rugby in the region and plays a key role in our club vision to Inspire Our Community Through Rugby Success.

“Myself and Gethin [Watts] met with the Combination at a meeting and we were all excited about establishing this fixture in the schedule.

“We continue to forge positive links with our Combination clubs at senior and Academy level.

“A number of our first team players are proud ambassadors for their local clubs in Bristol, some coach in the Combination, and some guys are representing Combination clubs on dual-registration agreements. There’s clear alignment and it’s growing all the time.

“The return of this fixture only serves to strengthen our relationship and celebrates the fantastic work being done in the community across the Combination clubs.”

Further information about the Bristol Bears XV vs Combination XV will be released in due course.
