Tuima to depart Bristol Bears Women

Bristol Bears Women can confirm that Lagi Tuima is to leave the club this summer.

The talented centre has been at the club for two years but unfortunately Tuima has not featured this season while recovering from a shoulder injury sustained on duty with the England U20s last summer.

Tuima is also among the 28-player group that have received a full-time contract with the RFU this season.

Bristol Bears Women Head Coach Kim Oliver said: “Lagi will be a huge loss for the club moving forward and it was disappointing for her not to feature in a Bears shirt this season due to injury.

“She possesses raw talent in abundance and has the potential to kick on and become a great player.

“Everyone at the club wishes her the best moving forward.”

Lagi Tuima said: “It’s never easy leaving a club or a group of players who’ve played a massive part in my journey as a player at Bristol Bears.

“I’ve had two seasons with the club and unfortunately I’ve missed the season just gone due to being injured. Naturally, I would’ve liked a run out one last time with the Bears but I wish them well for the upcoming season. There’s a lot of hidden talent down here in the South West and I hope that gets exploited.

“Good things always come to an end but I’m excited to turn the page and take on all the challenges that will come with it. From me to everyone at the club, both on and off the pitch - thank you, it’s been a ride.”
