Two of Bristol Academy’s young guns were in action during the opening weekend of the U18 Six Nations Festival in Ystrad Mynach.
England – who included Blake Boyland at scrum half – went down 32-27 to Nathan Chamberlain’s Scotland U18s.
England led at the interval through tries from Alfie Barbeary, Ollie Sleightholme and Reece Dunn, but Scotland hit back after the interval to clinch a nailbiting victory.
It was England's first match of the Six Nations Festival in Wales with fixtures against Italy at Cardiff Arms Park (4 April, KO 12pm), before Wales play Ireland U18s on Wednesday, while Scotland play France.
