Academy pair, Nick English and Nathan Chamberlain kicked off their U20 Six Nations campaign with defeats on the opening weekend of the tournament.
Chamberlain was among the replacements as Scotland U20 slipped to a 22-32 defeat to the Azzurri, while English was also a substitute as Wales U20 went down 32-10 to reigning world champions, France U20.
Tommy Reffell's Welsh side went toe-to-toe with the French and rocked them with a great first-half performance in Vannes.
But last year's Six Nations and World Rugby Junior Championship winners scored four tries in the end to pick up a bonus-point win as they triumphed 32-10.
At Netherdale, the Italians outscored the hosts by four tries to three to make it back-to-back wins over Scotland.
Scotland U20 Head Coach, Carl Hogg, said: “We lacked accuracy tonight. Especially in our exit zones – we put ourselves under a lot of pressure with spilled passes and poor execution.
“After half-time, we had a twenty period where we were nice and composed in our own half. We played the ball out and put some speed on the ball and we looked a dangerous side, however, unfortunately we didn’t do that over the 80 minutes.
The young Robins fell to a 3-2 defeat in the Professional Development League 2 Final against Coventry City despite a valiant fightback from two goals down.
