Community Foundation development manager, Craig Capel has described Premiership Rugby’s ‘The Urban Rugby Squad’ project as ‘a fantastic opportunity’ for young people.
The project - which will be held at Portishead Youth Centre - is a ground-breaking initiative run by Premiership Rugby and its clubs, helping 1,000 young people aged 14-16 from disadvantaged communities across England.
Capel, who help to deliver the project, said: “Urban Rugby Squad is a fantastic opportunity for 13 to 17-year-olds to take part in free touch/tag rugby sessions delivered by our professional community coaches.
“As well as developing a range of physical and teamwork skills, each young person who commits to the sessions will receive free kit, meet professional players and have the opportunity to compete against other teams in a national final to be played at a Premiership Rugby stadium.
“We look forward to working with staff and young people at Portishead Youth Centre.”
Bristol Flyers suffered a 106-89 defeat to the Leicester Riders away from home.
