Vacancy: Bristol Bears Women lead medic

Bristol Bears Women seeks a lead medic ahead of the 2018/19 Tyrrell's Premier 15s campaign.

Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to:

  • Provide clinical care in the field of physiotherapy; encompassing physiotherapy assessment, treatment, management and rehabilitation of all members of the Bristol Bears Women’s Squad
  • Management of the Bristol Bears Women’s Medical team
  • Ensure all league standards are meet with regards player records, communication and medical equipment

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain appropriate club clinical guidelines ensuring clinical effectiveness to optimise player care
  • Use clinical skills to ensure the accurate assessment and diagnosis of injuries
  • Create and implement pre-season player prehab programs in conjunction with relevant rugby body professionals
  • Create and manage player rehabilitation programs in conjunction with relevant rugby body professionals
    Ensure all Bristol Bears Women’s players, coaching, support and medical staff complete the RFU Online
  • Concussion module by 30/9/18
  • Ensure SCAT 3 assessments are completed on all players during pre-season
  • Ensure that Bristol Bears Women’s staff and medical team are compliant with all head injury and concussion management standards and protocols
  • Creation and delivery of agreed return-to-play protocols for all squad players
  • Manage caseload of players effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure league medical equipment requirements are met

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Registered with Health Professional Council
  • Evidence of up to date training in the immediate management of injuries including the
    minimum of ICIS level 2 or equivalent
  • RFU Emergency First Aid Certificate holder
  • Must exhibit significant experience within the role of Sports Physiotherapy with previous
    experience of working in a rugby environment
  • Knowledge in injury prevention methods and recovery strategies.
  • Team worker with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    I.T. literate, including word/excel/outlook
  • Full DBS

Desirable

  • Experience of having worked within women’s sport
  • Rugby Squad knowledge
