Vacancy: Professional Development Manager

Bristol Bears seeks a Professional Development Manager to drive a world class professional development programme that helps support athletes in gaining the skills, qualifications, network, and experiences for a career after professional sport.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support staff in their plans to be ‘world class’ in their field and driving the organisations standards through continued professional development.
  • Support athlete welfare through a mental health support framework. Deliver training and awareness on mental health to the organisation.
  • Provide assistance for arriving athletes integrating into the club & city. This also involves supporting the playing squad with housing and linking with commercial partners.
  • Provide professional development support to the Bears Women programme and collaborate on skills workshops and events.
  • Cultivate partnerships with educational institutions, commercial partners, industry, former players & the Bristol Bears wider network to provide professional development opportunities for players & staff.
  • Lead professional development within the Bears Senior Academy. Work closely with the Senior Academy manager and the multi-discipline team to ensure the Academy players achieve holistic excellence.
  • Run the Sporting Excellence Professional apprenticeship programme within the Academy.
  • Facilitate and collaborate on the delivery of RPA programmes.
  • Matchday ‘A’ game duties. Aiding with managing and logistics.

Qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of rugby union.
  • Experience networking and developing partnerships.

Desirable:

  • Understanding the dynamics, pressures and motivations of professional rugby players.
  • Experience of working within a high performance, professional sporting environment.
  • Experience providing career planning or guidance.
  • Working with educational providers on course delivery or apprenticeship programmes.

Personal qualities and skills:

  • Thrives in a team environment and continually contributes positively to the Bears vision & culture.
  • A passion for working with people and supporting them to achieve their goals.
  • Strong, transferrable communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and respond to a fast-paced environment.

Salary:                         Competitive
