Vacancy: Senior Academy Physiotherapist

Bristol Bears seeks a Senior Academy Physiotherapist to to join our experienced sports medicine team in the pursuit of world class performance. 

CORE PLAYER GROUP

Integrated Academy - A group of 18-23 year olds that are fully integrated into with the senior playing squad. This group of players are deemed sufficiently capable of playing 1st XV rugby for the Bristol Bears. This player group, hence successful applicant, will observe the senior training schedule at the Bristol Bears High Performance Centre.  

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use excellent clinical skills to ensure the accurate assessment and diagnosis of injuries 
  • Work both individually and as part of the team providing best practice physiotherapy treatment to injured players 
  • Liaise closely with the Head of Medical Services to ensure that Coaching and Athletic Performance staff receive accurate daily information regarding the injury status of players 
  • Provide match day physiotherapy and pitch side trauma cover for the Senior Squad. This includes being part of the medical team rotation for Premiership, Premiership Cup and European Champions Cup games. 
  • Maintain contemporaneous and detailed clinical notes on all aspects of injury management using RugbySquad 
  • Plan and implement personalised rehabilitation plans, in conjunction with the dedicated Athletic Performance coach for injured players

Qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • BSc Degree in Physiotherapy 
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Training in Pitch Side Emergency Care to ICIS level 3, or a willingness to complete this training at the next available opportunity 
  • Minimum 2 years full-time post graduate (or equivalent part-time) clinical experience as a Physiotherapist and 1 of these years must be full-time (or equivalent part-time) working as a Physiotherapist in elite level sport 
  • An ability to demonstrate up to date and advanced knowledge of physiotherapy and rehabilitation techniques related to recent advances in musculoskeletal medicine in the sporting sphere. 

Desirable:

  • Ability to work frequent irregular and unsocial hours 
  • Post Graduate qualification in sports physiotherapy or related area of practice 
  • Significant experience working within professional rugby 
  • Significant experience in planning and delivering individualised plans for injured athletes to include detailed rehabilitation programmes

Salary:                          £25,000 - £30,000 P.A

Contract:                      Full time, 2 year fixed term
