Varndell attends Nailsea School Sports Personality of the Year awards night

Tom Varndell completed a fantastic day of Bristol Rugby community engagement with a visit to Nailsea School’s Sports Personality of the Year evening at Cadbury House on Tuesday, 18th July.

Varndell, the Aviva Premiership’s all-time leading try scorer, presented awards and carried out a question and answer session, capping a highly successful academic year for the school’s athletes.

“It was great to hear some of Nailsea School’s sporting success stories at their annual Sports Personality of the Year evening,” said Varndell.

“Congratulations to all of the award winners and anyone who represented the school during the academic year."

“To have the English Premiership’s all-time leading try scorer as our guest speaker was absolutely incredible, so a huge thank you to Tom for coming down to speak to us,” said assistant head of PE, Dan Van Grudgings.

“His presence was made even more special by the fact that the evening was dedicated to Wyn Daniel, former head of PE at Nailsea School, who sadly passed away earlier this year.

“Wyn was a huge rugby fan who inspired thousands of students during his 36 years at Nailsea School.”
