Bristol Sport invited best-selling author and business consultant James Kerr to host a one-day workshop at Ashton Gate during the Rugby World Cup.
The award-winning author of ‘Legacy: Fifteen Lessons In Leadership’ spent five weeks with the New Zealand All Blacks to study the way one of the best in the world stay on top of their game.
The day was all about learning how the culture and legacy of the All Blacks can be used to also create success in business.
He said: "In any environment that is continually successful there are always principles that are very valuable to look at from a cross cultural aspect."
Kerr added: “Rugby can learn from football, football can learn from the military, the military can learn from businesses and industries can learn from each other in many ways to create success.”
Both Bristol City and Bristol Rugby Academies came together for the event.
Bristol City’s U21 manager, Wade Elliott learnt a lot from the workshop: “For someone like me who is stepping into a new role, the experience is invaluable”
“I have learnt today the importance of realising that it's more than a game of football or rugby, it's about representing the whole city and over 100 years of history.”
Head Teacher of Sky College in Taunton, Richard Berry said: “I can relate the whole ethos of the book and the success of the All Blacks to my role as a leader at my school.”
Lansdown Club Members were also invited to the workshop and Ian Larthe de Langladure from Aspire Partnership was impressed: “Things like this haven’t previously been available in Bristol but I think Bristol Sport are bringing something new to the city which is really good.”
