Video: Active Ageing kicks off at British and Irish Cup clash

The Active Ageing project kicked off in style on Sunday with a festival of over 55s sport at Ashton Gate, ahead of Bristol Rugby’s British and Irish Cup clash with Doncaster Knights.

The South Stand concourse was awash with a range of walking sport demonstrations prior to kick off, from badminton to basketball – and also saw Bristol Rugby players Joe Joyce, Jack O’Connell, Jack Tovey, Andy Uren and Jason Harris-Wright try their hand at the sports’ slower formats.

A walking rugby match, between Bristol Pioneers and Kingswood, also took place in Greville Smyth Park with the sides sharing the spoils in a 6-6 draw.

The project designed to transform attitudes to - and opportunities for - sport and physical activity in over 55s, sees Bristol Sport Foundation team up St Monica Trust, The Anchor Society and LinkAge Bristol.
