Stars from Bristol Rugby and Bristol Ladies were in attendance as the Community Foundation’s Eagle Project celebrated Women's Sport Week in style with a training session at Sir Bernard Lovell Academy.
Ian Evans and Martin Roberts from Bristol Rugby and Sacha Acheson and Kathryn Buggy from Bristol Ladies dropped in on Thursday morning to coach, train and offer advice to the girls taking part in the programme – and project manager, Geraint Lewis hailed the day as a huge success.
“It was great to have Ian, Martin, Sacha and Kathryn down with us today to celebrate the Eagle Project and Women Sports Week.
“This is week four of the programme here at Sir Bernard Lovell Academy and the girls have taken to the programme brilliantly and we’ve seen huge improvements.
“At the beginning of the Eagle Project, four years ago, the girls on the programme could not have dreamed of being a professional rugby player – but now they can and Eagle Project ambassador, Amber Reed, is a prime example of this.
“She couldn’t be here today, but that’s because she is now a full-time England rugby player and is training at Bisham Abbey.”
