VIDEO: Reading Stars Enjoy Christmas Treat With Bristol's Nick Koster

Students from the Reading Stars programme end the term with a trip to Waterstones with Bristol Rugby's Nick Koster.

The Bristol Rugby Community Foundation invited children from Woodstock School to a festive story-time in Waterstones, Cribbs Causeway as an end of term celebration of their progress on the Reading Stars course.

"We really wanted to put the course into context and do some reading in a real world environment," said Bristol Rugby Community Foundation's Kris Tavender.

Readings Stars is a two-term literacy support programme for young people in Years 7-11. Enhanced DBS cleared and fully trained Bristol Rugby Community Foundation volunteers who visit schools for one hour on a weekly basis to read with young people identified by the school as requiring literacy support.

The students were joined by Bristol Rugby's Nick Koster, who was delighted to be involved: "As rugby players we probably don't realise the impact we can have on these kids.

"I don't want to over-state that at all, but for them to get to ask us any questions they have and for us just to be in each others company is brilliant."
