Vui urges Bears to raise the bar ahead of Exiles clash

Chris Vui says the Bears must raise their level when they make a first trip to the Brentford Community Stadium to face London Irish on Sunday (3pm KO, live on BT Sport 1 HD).

After a scrappy, narrow victory over Gloucester at Kingsholm in round nine, Vui has urged his side to ‘redeem themselves’ against a dangerous Irish outfit.

'We’re looking to redeem ourselves'

“We got the win and it was obviously a messy one, but we got the job done and we’re happy with that,” he said.

“We look back at the review and we made a lot of mistakes that weren’t like us. This week, it’s been more about taking the learnings and being honest with ourselves on how we played in that game. We didn’t play the Bears way – we got the win, but we didn’t play well.

“Irish are a good team and they’ve got some really key players – a really strong back three, so they are going to be dangerous with their speed out there on the wings.

“If we can contain their big, strong forward pack, the backs can settle everything else. It’s going to be a huge competition – they are looking for a win as well, we’re looking to redeem ourselves, so it’s going to be a fun game. It’s a new stadium and we’re really looking forward to the game.”
