Bristol Bears Women is delighted to announce Wales international Kayleigh Powell has signed with the club ahead of the 2020/21 Premier 15s season.
The 21-year-old is an exciting young talent, who can operate at centre and full-back will bolster Kim Oliver’s backline options.
Powell has been capped for Wales on five occasions in the 15-woman code of the game, she was also a member of the Wales 7s squad that competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia.
Head Coach Kim Oliver said: “We’re delighted Kayleigh will be joining us ahead of the new season. She’s a bright young talent, who has the potential to shine in the Premier 15s.
“Her versatility across the backline gives us a number of options of how we can set-up and creates great competition amongst the backs.
“Kayleigh brings a high work rate to the defensive line, a sublime core skillset, as well as much valued experience having competed at the Commonwealth Games.”
The promising youngster has also represented her country in the HSBC Sevens World Series and made history in scoring Wales’ first ever try on the circuit in 2018.
“I’m really looking forward to joining Bristol Bears Women for the upcoming season. It’s a well-established club both on and off the field with the fantastic work they do on the pitch and within the community”, said Powell.
“The Bears have a great squad and I believe it will be a great challenge for me at this stage in my career as I try and push myself to the next level.
“The combination of coaching from Kim and her team coupled with playing against top quality opposition week in, week out will really benefit me and hopefully I can add value to the team and perform well in a Bristol Bears jersey.”
