Walking Sport demos to feature at promotion party

Bristol Rugby Community Foundation is teaming up with Macmillan P&R (Prevention and Re-enablement) to deliver a feast of Walking Sport at Ashton Gate tonight (Friday), ahead of Bristol Rugby’s final home game of the season.

Walking Sport demos in basketball, badminton and netball will take place in the Foundation’s Fanzone, with a chance for supporters to have a go themselves.

At half-time, it’s the turn of of Walking Rugby to take centre stage, with a pitch demonstration on the hallowed Ashton Gate turf.

Combined with Bristol City Community Trust’s Walking Football – Bristol Sport Foundation lead the way on Walking Sport development across Bristol, as part of the Active Ageing (Bristol) network.

Walking Rugby has spearheaded the growth of Walking Sport within Bristol Sport Foundation development, with four hubs now running weekly, including the first fully sustainable Bristol & District Combination Club satellite at Kingswood Rugby Club, who themselves were recently crowned ‘champions’ at a regional festival in Bristol consisting of over 70 players.

Bristol City Community Trust works in partnership with LinkAge to deliver a slow-paced version of football, called Walking Football, which is aimed at the over 50s. 

LinkAge and Macmillan Cancer Support are working in partnership to support people aged 55+ living with and beyond cancer, to access a range of inspiring creative, social and physical activities.
