Wallace to depart club at the end of the season

Jack Wallace is set to depart Bristol Rugby after five seasons and 84 appearances for the club.

The popular utility back arrived in the summer of 2013, helping Bristol to two promotions from the Championship.

Wallace will begin the transition into life after rugby, securing a role in the recruitment industry, whilst also representing a London based club in the Championship.

He said: “It was an extremely tough decision because full-time rugby has been part of my life for the past ten years, so I haven’t taken it lightly. Ultimately, it’s a life decision for me and I’m looking at the long-term picture.

“Bristol has been a massive part of my life – it’s been a rollercoaster journey. I have had a fantastic time and I love the city. I can’t thank the supporters enough; they have been incredible to me."

Wallace congratulated after scoring at Ashton Gate (JMP UK).

"I’ve been presented with some fantastic opportunities away from rugby and I start in the summer. It’s great to still be in the game as well, but it’s important I start to make that transition.

“Bristol has been a massive part of my life – it’s been a rollercoaster journey. I have had a fantastic time and I love the city. I can’t thank the supporters enough; they have been incredible to me.

“I have worked with fantastic individuals and it’s great to be leaving with the team back in the Premiership. It’s been phenomenal to see the work that Pat [Lam] and the team have put in this season and what has been achieved, on and off the field.”

Head coach Lam added: “Jack has been the consummate professional throughout his time with the club – he always displays a good attitude and works hard on his preparation and his game.

“We’re grateful for the contribution he has shown over five seasons with the club and we know he will have a positive impact in the next step in his career. On behalf of everybody at Bristol Rugby, we congratulate Jack and Stephanie on their upcoming wedding and we wish them a very happy future together.”
