Michelin starred chef Josh Eggleton will partner with Bristol Sport as its guest chef at Ashton Gate for the Rugby World Cup.
Creating the ultimate sports village for fans to watch the season of games from the Opening Ceremony and England's game against Fiji on Friday September 18th to Saturday October 31st.
Working alongside Bristol Sport, Eggleton will bring his Eat Drink Bristol Fashion team to Ashton Gate to celebrate the opening of the new Sports Bar & Grill, to coincide with the kick-off of the Rugby World Cup. With the largest indoor sports screen in the country it will be the best place to watch sport in the city this autumn, starting with the Rugby World Cup campaign.
Josh, who is through to the final of BBC’s Great British Menu this year, is well-known in Bristol as a part of the team bringing the Eat Drink Bristol Fashion tipi village to Queen Square and is Chef Patron at the Pony & Trap in Chew Magna. Josh will launch his England inspired tapas menu at the stadium for the host nation’s opening game against Fiji on Friday 18th September, kicking off at 8pm.
Josh Eggleton commented;
“My first ever job was selling Bristol Rugby matchday programmes for my dad’s printing company and its great to see the development finally completing and giving the city of Bristol a stadium to be proud of. The whole Eat Drink Bristol Fashion team will be working to bring something truly Bristol Fashion to the World Cup season at Ashton Gate.”
Two Eat Drink Bristol Fashion signature tipis will transform the outside area to establish a Heineken & Butcombe beer garden for the five-week duration of the World Cup, with host nation games being shown on the large external LED screen as well as on the giant internal screen.
Andrew Billingham, Bristol Sport’s CEO added: “If you haven’t got a ticket to Twickenham I think Ashton Gate will be one of the best venues to watch the World Cup. We’ve worked really hard to get the Sports Bar & Grill able to open to the public in time for that first England game but this weekend we also have a double-header of Bristol City playing Reading on Saturday and Bristol Rugby taking on Nottingham on Sunday. It will be a massive weekend of sport and it starts on Friday night!”
If you love sport and love food Ashton Gate is the place to come!
The Bristol Sports Bar & Grill and Rugby World Cup village opens from 5pm on Friday, September 18th.
