Senior Academy Manager @GethinWatts hailed an 'excellent' afternoon after a double win for U18s 🆚 Exeter Chiefs 👇
Tries from Jamie Wood, Oscar Simms Preston, Louis Stratton, Dan Williams, George Payne, Joachim Hullah and Josh Sheppard helped the U18s to a 41-7 victory over Chiefs, while the Development side ran out 21-14 winners.
And Watts was pleased with both teams’ desire and attitude at Shaftesbury Park.
“Following on from the Academy League games in August, it was important for us to maintain a good level of competition,” he said.
“Exeter are an excellent side and the game was an arm wrestle from start to finish. The boys were excellent throughout and it's so pleasing for all to see that the transfer from August and the recent block of training present itself in an 80 min performance.
“Despite having a number of players on the injury list, we were able to give lots of players their first experience at this level and they acquitted themselves seamlessly.
“The Development side was predominantly the U17 group of players, but also an opportunity to look at a number of players who have been playing well for their schools, colleges and clubs.
“It was an excellent game and a great win that showed determination and desire to stay in the fight.”
