‘We have to make sure we’re in the right mindset’ – Oliver

Bristol Bears Women will be looking to return to winning ways against DMP Durham Sharks tomorrow afternoon and finish 2020 on a high.

Kim Oliver believes her team need to get back to enjoying their rugby and playing with confidence if they are to end the calendar year with a win in the North East.

“I think we could have made better decisions against Worcester. We put ourselves under a lot of pressure and I think a big learning for us is how we can relieve that pressure and put pressure back on our opponents.

“No game in this league is easy and we have to continue to get batter each week, take those learnings and really work together to improve as a collective. We’ve got to trust the process and execute when we need to.

“The girls are a real tight-knit group. It is about us coming together and trusting each other in our roles getting a good week’s worth of work under our belt and performing on Saturday.

“We’ve got to get a bit of enjoyment back into the way we play, because if we’re not enjoying it then we’re not fully bought in to what we’re trying to achieve.

“We’re heading up to the game the night before so we’re best prepared for the game. The management team have done a great job in making sure we’ve got everything we need, it’s when we wake up on the morning of the game, we have to make sure we’re in the right mindset.

“We’ve got to get back to doing what we’re capable of and enjoying it because it’s also the last game of the year before we head off on a break and we want to go into that in a positive place.”
