‘We made it too easy’ - Lam

Pat Lam reflected on 'a game that slipped away' after Bristol Bears fell short of a third successive league win against Worcester Warriors on Saturday.

The head coach admitted defensive errors had cost his side in another dramatic Gallagher Premiership clash at Ashton Gate, insisting Bristol ‘made it too easy’ for Worcester.

“(It’s) obviously a game we let slip away. We started well but through that first half, defensively, we were too easy.

“We had opportunities to win that game second half, but we just couldn’t get it. Fair play to Worcester, we know how good they could be, and we felt that today.

“We got one point, but we missed out on four and that’s how we feel.

“We had belief in our game and what brings it alive is the energy. I’m really proud of our performance. People will look at the result, but we know this has been coming."

Pat Lam, head coach

“They were very good at hounding us and hassling us. They push it to the max and they got away with slowing the ball down.

“We tried to raise the tempo, but slow scrums and slow lineouts didn’t help that. That’s down to the officials, they didn’t punish it, so they got away with it.

“But we have to give credit to Worcester, they dealt with the game better than us, but we feel like that game was there for us.

“I am disappointed not to get the win today, but we’ll go away focus on what we did well today and what we didn’t do well.”
