‘We must learn and move on’ - Lam

Pat Lam reflected on a ‘tough day’ for his Bristol Bears side at Sixways on Sunday but urged his players to learn their lessons from the heavy away defeat.

Bristol scored first through Yann Thomas but went on to concede seven unanswered tries as Worcester stormed to a bonus-point win on home turf. And Lam said his players must ‘take their medicine, learn and move on’.

“You get these games, and I’ve had this many times as a player and many times as a coach,” he said.

“Everyone has different ways to win a game of rugby but if you don’t win the ball and don’t win collisions and turn ball over then it’s very hard. We looked at Worcester and these guys are very good, they could easily be undefeated.

“It’s a tough day but you just have to take it. You take your medicine and learn and move on.

“There’s no doubt we are feeling disappointed and embarrassed, no one wants to be on the end of those but there’s a lot of experience in there and they have been here before and we know we are better than that.

“We can’t do anything about it now, it’s done, it’s finished. It’s about what we do next time on the field and the next time we get back to the Premiership."
