'We must stay connected' - Oliver

A message from Bristol Bears Women, Head Coach, Kim Oliver.

We’re gutted that our season was disappointingly cut short, but there are certain things that are just bigger than sport and what we’re experiencing is certainly that.

Now more than ever we must stay connected not only as a club, but also with our friends, family and loved ones. It’s a time full of uncertainty which means staying active, connected and challenged will be key for everyone’s mental health, which is why over the coming weeks you will see plenty of activity from the girls whilst they’re in isolation.

We’ve set the girls a lot of challenges to keep them busy, so I’m sure you’ll see what they’ve been up to on out social media channels and please get involved.

This season has been quite the rollercoaster, where unfortunately at times we didn’t quite reach our potential, but there were plenty of positives and fantastic displays both from individuals and more importantly as a collective.

I would like to thank the players and staff for all the hard work and sacrifice that has been made this season. We’ve built a really strong and connected Bristol Bears family, which in turn has created a brilliant club culture and this will not fade throughout what we’re going through.

I can’t forget the Bears faithful who turn up week in, week out both home and away. You have all been phenomenal this season in getting behind the girls and on behalf of the club we all thank you for your unwavering support and we can’t wait to run out at Shaftesbury Park in what we hope is a not too distant future.

Moving forward we face tough period with a lot of uncertainty, so please follow the government advice and stay at home and save lives.

A huge thank you must go out to our NHS and key workers, who are doing an outstanding job fighting on the front line. We have a number of doctors in our squad, as well as key workers and we know they’re going to be under great strain at this time, we’re really proud of great work everyone is doing to help fight against the spread of the virus.

Please stay safe and we hope to see you soon.
