‘We need to control the momentum’ - Oliver

Kim Oliver is excited by the challenge of facing Worcester Warriors at Shaftesbury Park on Saturday but insists her side must control the momentum of the game when facing an energetic Warriors side.

“Tough game against Quins at the weekend but we’ve come back in this week and we’ve had a good week’s training and we need to put all our learnings into the game this weekend.

“They [Worcester] have a good scrum and they put really good line speed on us last season, and that put us under a lot of pressure. It’s about us being able to deal with that, working on it this week in training so if that does happen, we know how we’re doing to deal with it.

“How we manage momentum, how do you change momentum and how do you get that momentum back? That might be through a big carry or big tackle or turnover, so it’s about that and when we’ve got it how do we keep it.

“Again, we need to be more dominant in our chop tackle, if we can get that ball carrier on the floor that gives our plus one more opportunity to go in for the jackle, if needs be.

“We’ve also looked at our line speed and if we can put pressure on their skills, we get the ball back and that will create opportunities for us score tries.

“Our set-piece wasn’t great last week, and our lineout didn’t function. If we can get that functioning, then it gives our backs opportunity to score. It will be a challenging weekend, but one I’m definitely looking forward to.

“This week’s live stream is really exciting. There is a lot of fans that we used to get in week-in, week-out, very loyal and I think they’ve missed it so it’s good opportunity for them to watch from home. We know they’ll be watching, it’s not the same as having them here at Shaftesbury Park but they’re at home watching is really big push on for us.”
