‘We’re always looking to improve’ - Mulhearn

Ellie Mulhearn insists Bristol Bears Women are ‘ready for the challenge’ as they prepare to face second placed Loughborough Lightning on Saturday.

Bristol Bears Women travel to the midlands in search of a third successive Tyrrell’s Premier 15s victory, but Mulhearn knows the Bears are going to have to be at their very best to beat Lightning, who are unbeaten in the league so far.

“Loughborough will bring a different challenge to what we have already faced this season and that is the most exciting thing about this game - each game is different and it’s up to us to find a way to win on the day, but overall we feel ready for the challenge.

“We have had a good week of training and I think the girls are ready for what Loughborough will throw at us on Saturday. We will look to stick to our processes and the outlined game plan and that will hopefully allow us to come away with a win", said Mulhearn.

“The vibe at training has been really positive, everyone is very switched on and as a team we are constantly looking at what we can do to improve as well as reflecting on the positive parts of our performances."

“We have work so well as a team in the early parts of the season, we have had some really tough games and at times things haven’t gone are way but we have pulled together, remained positive and put in some great performances.

“The vibe at training has been really positive, everyone is very switched on and as a team we are constantly looking at what we can do to improve as well as reflecting on the positives as a squad.

“At the start of the season we spoke about what we wanted to achieve from this season, how we are going to do it and everyone has bought into that and I think that has really shown through our cohesion as a squad and we just really want to work hard and do well for each other.”

The tight-head had an impressive summer away with the England U20’s winning the Tri-Nations title across the Atlantic in Canada and she has bought her explosive form into the opening round of the Tyrrell’s Premier 15s.

“The summer tour was amazing way to finish my time with U20s and I loved every minute of it."

“I think the season as got off to a good start for me from a performance point of view, but I still think I have plenty to work on.

“I feel as though I’m in in the right place to progress, there’s a good environment here that will help me grow and develop as a player.”
