'We'll bounce back from last-gasp defeat' - Randall

A frustrated Harry Randall insisted the Bears would learn lessons from Sunday’s last-gasp defeat at the hands of Wasps and called on his side to bounce back from the result in round two.

The scrum half touched down midway through the second half in another electric display from the Bears number nine – and Randall was left to rue a number of key turning points at the Ricoh.

“We put ourselves in a bad place by making too many errors,” he said. “We can’t fault the effort and sometimes in rugby, decisions go for you and against you. Maybe a few calls didn’t go our way today, but we’ll go back to drawing board and look at what we did well, and we didn’t do so well and can work on.

'Key moments cost us'

“It’s a long old season and fortunately enough, we’ve got a lot of time to put things right.

“We’re obviously disappointed not to come away with the win – Wasps have been a bit of bogey team for us down here – so, we’ll review it and take the learnings from it.

“It’s a very competitive league, there aren’t any easy games, and coming away to Wasps is tough. But there are some mistakes in there and some turning points, and it’s about controlling those moments and controlling the momentum of the game.

“There were a few decisions that cost us that momentum and allowed them to go down the other end of the field and score, but there is a lot to learn from this game.”
