Pat Lam became Director of Rugby in 2019 after steering Bristol to a highest top flight finish for a promoted club in 12 years.

Since joining the club in 2017, Pat Lam has steered Bristol Bears from the Championship to the top of the English Premiership.

In his first season at the helm, Lam led Bristol to an immediate return to the top flight with an impressive 21 wins out of 22, before leading to Bristol to a highest finish for a promoted club in twelve years.

In 2020, Lam helped the club to a first major silverware since 1983, winning the European Challenge Cup, while also achieving back-to-back semi-finals in the Premiership.

A Samoan international at three Rugby World Cups during his playing days, Lam won the 1997-98 Premiership with Newcastle Falcons and the 2000 Heineken Cup as captain of Northampton Saints. Lam led Connacht to their first ever major trophy in 2016, winning the Pro12 title.
